Doing the absolute most at Windy Hill Orchard

I felt like the most festive person in all the land this weekend.  Flannel? Check.  Warm Beanie? Check.  Great girlfriends? Check.  Clearly all we needed to complete this was an apple orchard.  We headed on down to York, SC to check out the Windy Hill Orchard and wow am I glad we did!  It's about a 40 minute drive from Charlotte but is 100% worth it if you're looking to
FALL THE HECK OUT.

The tale of a ripped skirt, ugly crying, and a beautiful brunch at La Belle Helene.

How do I even begin this post?  Yesterday was SOMETHING else.  I can't help but laugh about it now, but I really was an extra drama queen. Ladies, we can be so ridiculous for absolutely no reason.  I went back and forth on whether or not I was going to mention the entire story on here, but I hope some of you can relate.  This blog has been something I've wanted to do for years and I finally took the plunge a few weeks back as you all know.  Something you also may not know about me is that I am a perfectionist.  I get an image in my mind of how things are going to go and I expect it to go that way.  If it doesn't, I am SO hard on myself and tend to take it out on the ones closest to me (ahem, my boyfriend).
Let me paint this picture for you...

Yesterday, I had reservations for brunch at the new and beautiful restaurant called La Belle Helene.  La Belle Helene offers authentic French cuisine in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. They have been open for about 7 weeks and I have had several friends (as well as La Belle Helene themselves) tell me to give it a try.  I made reservations online for 1pm and just knew everything was going to go well.  Silly me, right? I am a walking hazard, guys.  You will learn that soon enough!  We get in the car from Ballantyne where we live and make the gorgeous drive to Uptown.  The weather was perfect yesterday and we decided to take a long route that is much prettier than driving on the interstate.  We had plenty of time.  However, traffic got a little congested and we ended up barely getting there on time.  This stresses me out to no end as I hate being late!  Not to mention, this blog means a lot to me and I can't be late for a reservation for a place that suggested I stop in and check them out, right?  RIGHT.  This is how my mind operates and I was already getting tight in the chest.  We park in a parking deck only to find out that my two girlfriends are at the restaurant and I forgot to make the reservation for 4 rather than 2.  Oh my god, this is great. All I can think about is, "this restaurant is going to regret having me here!"  I'm going to be on their "Do not serve" sign if I keep this up!  THANKFULLY, the team at La Belle Helene made it happen and I am so appreciative.  Seriously, thank you from the idiot that can't count properly.  My nerves are already shot, but I'm trying to put it behind me and get to the restaurant quickly. I fling the car door open, go to step out, and...

Versona and Vintner Wine Market

Guys, we had the most GORGEOUS weather here in Charlotte this past weekend.  It actually felt like fall and was completely tolerable to be outside for extended amounts of time.  Needless to say, I stayed busy this weekend and enjoyed it!  My weekend started off with some light shopping.  My girlfriend and I had every intention to head over to South Park Mall, but had a change of heart while we were driving.  She suggested we go check out Versona in Arboretum area.  I had remembered being at this place one other time years ago and had just never been back.  Y'all, what is wrong with me?  This place had soooo many amazing items from shoes, clothing, to accessories.  The best part?  All of their items were affordable and still maintained a high level of quality.  Below, I want to show you one of my favorite items I bought.

This hat is going to be a staple in my fall wardrobe!  I got the gray, but they had this in black, brown, and maroon!  I want them all.  Stop by a Versona near you and try one on-- you're going to buy it. :)

Southern Tier Distillery, Merchant and Trade, Zeppelin

Finding a great bar in CLT is not difficult these days which makes the decision on "where do you want to go?" even more difficult!  This weekend, I tried a few new places that are definitely worth a mention and have me as a repeat customer.

Friday afternoon, we stopped in to Southern Tier Distilling Company for a quick cocktail to kick off the weekend. This place is relatively new in South End and it was HUGE.  It is a shared space with Victory Brewing Company.  The staff was very welcoming when we came in and we ended up getting some seats at the bar.  I loved that they not only had craft brews, but also vodka and whiskey that they distill in house.  Having both makes this place ideal for groups with different tastes!

In case you don't live in Charlotte, it is still HOT as heck outside.  As much as I love fall related cocktails, this temperature is making me hold off for now.  I chose the Cucumber Cooler from their specialty cocktail menu and I was not disappointed!  First off, how refreshing does that look?  It was made with their STDC Vodka, St. Elder, Lemon Juice, Soda, Cucumbers, and Orange Bitters.  Honestly, I savored this one because every sip was so good.  Case and point, go get one!  I didn't try any food this time around but the menu looked amazing.  I'll be sure to visit again soon and give it a try.  I am dying to try their pizza called "The Crunch".

I want to say thank you first and foremost!  Welcome to Cocktails for Dinner.  This blog is a brand new venture that I have thought about for a long time before committing.  I would always see these perfectly crafted lifestyle blogs and be so inspired and motivated but also scared to death.  I’d get all pumped up to begin the process and then talk myself out of it because I felt that I could never measure up to all of the content already out there!  The truth?  I won’t be able to measure up to many of you inspirational ladies that have spent years on becoming an influencer and I wouldn’t try to take your place for the world!  You are the ones that I’ve followed for ages and I look up to you all.  Maybe I'll do a blog post in the future on some of my favorite bloggers! (Yes?)
