Southern Tier Distillery, Merchant and Trade, Zeppelin

Finding a great bar in CLT is not difficult these days which makes the decision on "where do you want to go?" even more difficult!  This weekend, I tried a few new places that are definitely worth a mention and have me as a repeat customer.

Friday afternoon, we stopped in to Southern Tier Distilling Company for a quick cocktail to kick off the weekend. This place is relatively new in South End and it was HUGE.  It is a shared space with Victory Brewing Company.  The staff was very welcoming when we came in and we ended up getting some seats at the bar.  I loved that they not only had craft brews, but also vodka and whiskey that they distill in house.  Having both makes this place ideal for groups with different tastes!

In case you don't live in Charlotte, it is still HOT as heck outside.  As much as I love fall related cocktails, this temperature is making me hold off for now.  I chose the Cucumber Cooler from their specialty cocktail menu and I was not disappointed!  First off, how refreshing does that look?  It was made with their STDC Vodka, St. Elder, Lemon Juice, Soda, Cucumbers, and Orange Bitters.  Honestly, I savored this one because every sip was so good.  Case and point, go get one!  I didn't try any food this time around but the menu looked amazing.  I'll be sure to visit again soon and give it a try.  I am dying to try their pizza called "The Crunch".

Saturday night, we decided to finally try Merchant and Trade in Uptown.  I say finally because this place always has a line outside so we'll get impatient and go somewhere else.  We were determined to try it out this time.  We got there right around 5:30pm which I highly suggest.  There was no wait.  The doormen were also very complimentary to Kevin so we were sold! Haha!  We were escorted to the elevator and up we went.  This place is beautiful and we totally understand why there's always a line!  The rooftop view was definitely eye catching and had an awesome view of the BB&T Ball Park.  There were a lot of soft seating that made you want to stay here awhile so that's exactly what we did.  I ordered two specialty cocktails and both were delicious.  The first I ordered was the Cyclone.  I ordered mine with vodka rather than gin, but it was so good.  They all sounded yummy, but I chose to get a French Martini next and it too was great.  Kevin always gets his usual Crown Royal with water so he's never disappointed! I hope you all will splurge for a date night and try this place out.  You won't regret it!

Love the pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Their house cocktail menu... I need to try them ALL. :)

The above pics are grainy, but I wanted to share with you the details of this dress.  I am in love.  It's made by Flynn Skye and is the perfect transition dress for fall!  For an Uptown evening, I paired it with some strappy heels, but could easily dress this down with some booties as well.  It looks like they are selling out quickly on the website so follow the below link!

This leads me to my final stop for the best event, Sunday Brunch.  Zeppelin South End was a perfect place to celebrate this.  The wait staff is probably some of the friendliest I've had and they were so knowledgeable about the menu.  The cocktails are creative and unlike anywhere else.  I had two different drinks while I was there-- the mimosa and bloody mary.  The mimosa sounds boring but I promise you, it is not!  They call their's the Crystalline Mimosa.  They clarify the orange juice, add some champagne, and give you a clear liquid concoction that is so cool!   Little changes like that made the experience different from other places for brunch.  I also tried their Hard Mode Bloody Mary(pictured below).   It was delicious and very different from your typical bloody.  The Hard Mode had more of a pickled taste to it, but I was totally fine with that!  They used a chile peppercorn vodka and I think that made this drink stand out from others.  For my meal, I ordered the chorizo frittata.  Y'all, it was seriously the best frittata I've ever had.  The ingredients were chorizo, home fries, goat cheese, creole tomato gravy, tomatoes, and herbs.  I also got a side of truffle parmesan home fries because... why not?  I felt like a fat kid, but it was 100% worth it.  I'll definitely be back within the next few weeks as they are rolling our their new Fall Menu.  Go check this place out!

I hope you all have enjoyed this post as I begin to rev this blog up!  Let me know of some other places you'd like me to check out in Charlotte.  I'd love to know!

Cheers!
